5 female- & minority-owned businesses you can support right now

I am no stranger to an impulse Amazon purchase. The insane amount of things that they carry and the quickness with which it arrives at my house are hard to resist. But I’m on a mission to start supporting more small businesses – and I’m specifically focused on female-owned minority businesses that I can support with all my heart and most of my money.

There’s no shortage of incredible products and services out there offered by women and women of color, but here are a few of our favorites:

1. Satori Notes Jewelry

This sleek, minimalist jewelry line offers clean, simple jewelry engraved with empowering (and sometimes hilarious) messages. According to their website, the name Satori is a “Japanese Buddhist term defined as a sudden inexpressible feeling of inner understanding or enlightenment.”

In jewelry terms, this means bangles that spell out everything from “Know Your Worth” to “Fuck Your Fears” that would make a badass addition to any wardrobe.

2. Frequency of Love

If you’re looking to spruce up your living space or give an amazing gift, look no further than Frequency of Love. Shop owner Zoë Sinclair fuses African fabric prints with portraits of iconic figures (ahem Outkast) for colorful and statement-making art. You can even get a family portrait like the one pictured above for a one-of-a-kind statement piece that would look damn good on any wall of your house.

3. Sukie’s Candle Co

Who among us has not gotten lost in the candle aisle at Homegoods, sniffing the day away? Lighting a candle in my house instantly helps me feel like I have my life together. I love fresh scents, so I’m eyeing the Grapefruit Mint and Lavender but there are options for everyone. Treat yourself to these hand-poured beauties and feel good about supporting this incredible business.

4. Zandra Beauty

Aside from cute packaging and irresistible scents like Japanese Kumquat, Zandra Beauty donates up to 10% from each purchase to fund the education of girls across the globe. Whether you’re looking for skincare, haircare, lip balms, or even gift sets, Zandra Beauty is the perfect place to shop if you want to change up your self-care routine with something new that gives back.

5. Mind the Cork

If you love organic textures and clean lines, you’ll love Mind the Cork. From minimalist planters to sleek and cork cardholders, this U.K.-based business is ready to help you spruce up your home (or even just your desk) with handmade, one-of-a-kind pieces.
