Why We Created the Anti-Tampon

modern tampon patent

FLEX was born out of a personal problem: we hate tampons, pads and menstrual cups. Our products worsen the discomfort we experience during our monthly cycle and are unsafe. Why aren't there better options?

And when we discovered that the modern tampon was created (by a man) in 1933 and used to stop bullet hole wounds during WWI, we couldn't believe that we've spent the majority of our lives using a product that was never designed for our bodies.

Menstrual cups seemed promising. They were invented in 1937, about 4 years after the modern tampon and have recently gained popularity in the U.S. They helped cut back on our emergency trips to the bathroom, but we were perplexed by how difficult they were to insert and remove. And frankly, we were grossed out by the idea of rinsing and reusing the same product inside our most sacred place.

We want something that is more comfortable than a tampon, pad or menstrual cup. We want fewer changes and no leaks. We want something that doesn't smell. Something that we aren't embarrassed to buy or carry into the ladies' room. We want something that can help us feel more empowered to be intimate with our lover during that time of the month. And we firmly believe that the products we use should never be the source of infections -- yeast, bacterial or toxic shock.

So, we set out to make a product that is specifically designed for a woman's body and PH. We designed a product to help solve all of the problems created by the products that were created for us without our best interest in mind.

We've created FLEX, and we're so excited to share with you the product that we've already tested with our friends and family.

FLEX will launch in 2016. If you're interested in learning more about our product and journey, follow our blog and join our mailing list. We'll keep you up-to-date with our progress so you can be the first to use the safest, most comfortable feminine hygiene product we've ever tried.
