FLEX ED: How To Use FLEX Menstrual Disc

Is the period product for you?

Find out what product is best for your cycle

If this is your first time using a menstrual disc, welcome. If this isn’t your first rodeo but you need a quick refresher, welcome back!
We make FLEX Disc, which we believe is exceptionally comfortable and provides benefits unlike any other period products on the market. Our menstrual disc holds about 5 regular tampons worth of fluid and collects rather than absorbing your period blood so it won't disrupt your body's natural pH balance. Wear it for up-to 12 hours and even during sex for full leak protection.
Ready to get started or try again? Here’s how to use FLEX menstrual disc:
Step 1: Get in position
Positioning is key: sit over the toilet, stand with a leg up, or get into a squat. All of these positions work well when inserting the disc into your vagina.
Step 2: Pinch it
Pinch the disc in half (it may look big, but once pinched it’s as the same width as a tampon).
Step 3: Get ready to insert
Point the disc downwards and push the edge that goes in first toward the floor. You want the disc to sit at a vertical angle and cover your full cervix.
FLEXpert Pro-tip: Try the thumb trick. Insert the pinched disc partway into your vaginal canal. Angle your thumb towards yourself pointing to the floor (think thumbs down). Now, use your index finger or thumb to push the tip of the rim the rest of the way in making sure you are pushing the edge that goes in first down toward the floor. Down and back is key! By doing this, you’ll have more control over the direction your disc is going.
Step 4: Place for comfort
Make sure the rim of your FLEX Disc is tucked above your pubic bone. You shouldn’t be able to feel it if it’s in the right place.
FLEXpert Pro-tip: If FLEX “leaks” when you go to the bathroom, that’s OK! It’s normal for the disc to get emptied during a biobreak. FLEX will push apart when you relax your pelvic floor, but should pop into place when you stand back up. If you want to be extra safe, make sure to tuck the disc back up behind your pubic bone and do a kegel to make sure it’s all set.
Step 5: Wear, sleep, eat, repeat
12-hour wear means you can do whatever you want. We’ve got your back (aka, your vagina).
Step 6: Ready to remove your menstrual disc?
Wash your hands first. Take a seat or stand with a leg up. Slide your finger under the front edge and pull down, keeping parallel to the floor.
FLEXpert Pro-tip: Removing the disc in the shower is a game-changer. It’s super easy and washes any messiness away along with your worries.
Step 7: Disposal!
Once you’re done, turn the disc upside down in the toilet to empty. Place it in it’s wrapper and then in the trash. Ta-da! You’re done.
