What’s the difference between Softcup and Flex Cup?

Both Softcup and Flex Cup are menstrual cups: A reusable period product that is worn in the vaginal canal and collects your flow (rather than absorbing it, like a tampon would).

Flex Cup is our original period cup, designed with a patented pull-tab that breaks the seal for you during removal. This makes removing Flex Cup as easy as pulling a tampon string. Flex Cup is priced at $34.99 and is available in two sizes: Size 01 and Size 02. Both sizes are offered in stain-resistant black silicone.

Softcup is a period cup with a more traditional design. Unlike Flex Cup, Softcup does not feature a patented pull-tab. Instead, Softcup has a textured stem designed to make it easy to locate your cup and manually break the seal (by squeezing the cup’s base) before removing. Softcup offers a V-shaped design that conforms to the shape of the vaginal canal to maximize comfort.

Softcup is priced at $24.99 and is also available in two sizes: Size 1, in teal, and Size 2, in pink.

Softcup and Flex Cup are made with 100% medical-grade silicone and, with proper care, will last for years. Both period cups can be worn for up to 12 hours at a time.

What about “Softcup,” the menstrual disc? We’re glad you asked! “Instead Softcup” was the original name for our disposable period disc, Softdisc, before the company was acquired by Flex. Both Softdisc and Softcup (now a menstrual cup) are now a part of the Flex family of brands. Learn more about Flex Disc vs. Softdisc here
