Why you’ll love Flex Reusable Disc

Will it fit?

Flex Reusable Disc was designed to fit most vaginas. When you pinch the disc in half to insert, it’s about the same size as a tampon. It sits comfortably in the vaginal fornix—at the back of the vaginal canal, just beneath the cervix—and collects, rather than absorbs, your period.

    Absolute Game Changer

I just picked one of these up over my last period cycle at Target - haven't stopped raving about it since! You can't feel it at all, and I've seen absolutely no leaks so far (and I have a relatively heavy flow! I'm used to going through 3/4 super tampons a day on the first few days of my period). The mess-free period sex is an absolute plus. It doesn't feel like I'm bleeding whatsoever!

Insertion gets easier with every time, and frankly, once you figure out what it is supposed to feel like, it's just as easy as putting in a tampon! I will say, taking it out is definitely a learning curve. Made a bit of a mess the first time I took it out, and I would recommend taking it out in the shower if possible!

    Doesn't stain and very comfortable

I had the older disc from flex and they have definitely improved on their design and material. I was hesitant at first because it was clear and in the past all menstrual products end up staining. This one never stained and cleaned up great with the wipes.

    Prefer the Disposable Version

I love that it’s reusable and it’s remarkably comfortable, but the disposable version is functionally better. This one is much trickier to insert and doesn’t seem to lock in place as well as the firmer rimmed version. Wish I could combine the two.

    Life changing!!

In the past year, my periods have become awful. Bloating, cramps, stabbing pains - you name it. I bought the flex reusable disc at cvs after seeing ads for it. I am on month two of using it, and it has been absolutely life changing for me. I am NOT going back to tampons!!! There is a learning curve to using this product (the first couple of tries were rough), but I did my research and decided to stick with it because I really wanted it to work. And boy does it work!! I LOVE it and will recommend it to everyone. Day 1 of my period (during my second month of use) and I had almost no cramps. And I woke up Day 2 with barely any bloating. Amazing!! Tip for beginners: If you’re struggling to insert the disc or take it out without making a mess, do it in the shower - much easier! LOVE MY FLEX DISC

Frequently Asked Questions

Flex Reusable Disc is a body-safe and sustainable menstrual disc that provides all-day comfort and a high capacity, holding as much as 6+ super tampons-worth (70 mL) of fluid. It was thoughtfully engineered to be as easy to insert and remove as our best-selling disposable Flex Disc—but it’s 100% reusable and lasts for years.

Flex Reusable Disc features two new technologies for easy insertion and removal: Made with dual silicone construction, the disc has an ultra-soft, thin catch and a sturdy rim for non-slip removal, while its patented insertion notch creates a narrow point at one end when the disc is pinched for easier placement.

Like Flex Disc, the Reusable Disc is worn in the vaginal fornix. This means the vaginal canal is left unobstructed, so you can enjoy all the mess-free period sex™ your heart desires. Sleep in, swim, go for a run, live your life: Flex Reusable Disc provides 12 hours of uninterrupted leak protection and comfortable wear. You might even forget you’re on your period.Flex Reusable Disc: Great for your wallet. Even better for the planet.

The lifespan of the Flex Reusable Disc varies depending on cleaning and care, but it can last for years. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend replacing your disc every two to three years, or as soon as it begins to show any signs of deterioration (such as powder or film, severe discoloration, persistent odor, etc). Refer to our Reusable Disc Cleaning Instructions to learn how to care for your silicone disc and extend its lifespan.

As a reminder, do not use Flex Reusable Disc if you have a yeast or bacterial infection. Resume use only once the infection has completely cleared. If Flex Reusable Disc was inserted during a yeast or bacterial infection, remove it immediately and dispose of it in the trash.

Taking good care of your Flex Reusable Disc will help to extend its lifespan and keep it clean and fresh for years.

Here’s what we recommend: During your period, remove, empty, and clean your Reusable Disc at least once every 12 hours. Start with clean hands and grab some mild soap or cleanser (like Flex Foaming Cleanser).

Rinse your disc in cool water first—this will help prevent odor and staining of the medical-grade silicone. Then, switch the water to warm and add a few pumps of cleanser. Use your fingers to massage the entire surface of the disc, including both sides of the rim and catch, and then rinse.

Shake off excess water or let the disc air dry before reinserting. If you’re putting your disc away until your next period, make sure it’s completely dry before storing. Store Flex Reusable Disc in a cool, dry place in its included pouch. Never store your disc in an airtight container.

Once every month or so, it’s a good idea to boil your Reusable Disc to sanitize it. Heat a pot of water to boiling on the stove. Place the disc in the water and boil for 10 minutes, keeping an eye on it the entire time and stirring occasionally to make sure the disc does not come in contact with the sides or bottom of the pot (as that could melt the silicone). Remove from the pot and let the disc cool and dry completely before storing.

Remember: Never wear Flex Reusable Disc if you have a yeast infection or other vaginal bacterial infection. If Flex Reusable Disc was inserted during a yeast or bacterial infection, remove it immediately and dispose of it in the trash. Do not attempt to clean and reuse your disc if it was worn during a vaginal infection.

  1. Wash your hands and clean Flex Reusable Disc using warm water and a mild soap or cleanser.
  2. Locate the easy insertion notch on the inner rim of the disc. Make sure that the notch is facing up and the catch is situated below the rim, extending downwards. Pinch the disc in half so that the notch creates a leading edge (AKA a narrow point) for insertion that you’ll use to guide the disc into the vaginal canal.
  3. Choose a position: Either sit on the toilet, squat with knees wide, or put one leg up on the toilet. Relax your pelvic floor and gently separate your labia with your free hand.
  4. Insert the pinched disc (notched end first) into the vaginal canal, pushing the disc down and back into the fornix, towards your tailbone. Push the disc as far as it can comfortably go. It may feel strange but it shouldn’t hurt.
  5. Use your thumb or index finger to tuck the front rim of the disc upward and behind your pubic bone. When inserted properly, you should not be able to feel the disc internally (AKA with your vagina).

Mid-wear experience:

  1. When you first start using the Reusable Disc, it's normal to experience a small amount of leakage. It may take a couple of cycles to get the hang of positioning the disc and figure out how it sits in relation to your unique anatomy.
  2. Worried your Reusable Disc is getting full? You can empty some of the blood hands-free just by sitting on the toilet. To do so, bear down on your pelvic floor muscles (as if you're trying to poop). This will move the disc forward, just beyond the pubic bone, releasing some of its contents into the toilet. When you're done, use a clean finger to tuck the disc back into place.
  3. Anytime you go to the bathroom, remember to use a clean finger (or the thumb trick) to make sure your disc is in the proper position, tucked up behind the pubic bone.

How to remove Flex Reusable Disc:

  1. Wash your hands. Sit on the toilet and relax your pelvic floor muscles.
  2. Hook your finger (either your thumb, thumbnail-side-up or your index finger, nail-side-down) under the rim of the disc. Pull straight out, keeping the rim parallel to the floor. If needed, help push the disc out by bearing down on your pelvic floor as if you’re trying to poop.
  3. Empty the contents into the toilet and repeat steps 1-5 to clean and reinsert your Flex Reusable Disc.
